New membership structure aims to enhance training programmes, policy advocacy, networking opportunities and digital services for Malaysian SMEs
The SME Association of Malaysia has approved a revision to its lifetime membership fee during its recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a strategic move to strengthen support services and expand initiatives for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) nationwide.
The revised fee will increase from RM2,050 to RM3,500, with the effective date to be announced later. According to the association, the adjustment will help improve operational capacity while supporting the growing needs of Malaysia’s SME ecosystem.
Membership Fee Revision to Support SME Growth
The AGM brought together representatives from across Malaysia to discuss the association’s future direction, governance priorities and administrative matters.
One of the key resolutions passed during the meeting was the increase in the lifetime membership fee. The association stated that the revision will support the expansion of SME-focused initiatives, including:
- Training and upskilling programmes
- Business matching opportunities
- Policy advocacy efforts
- Industry networking platforms
- Enhanced quality of member services
The association noted that strengthening these initiatives remains important as SMEs continue navigating evolving economic conditions, digital transformation and growing market competition.
SME Malaysia Relocates Office to Kuala Lumpur Commercial Hub
In addition to the membership fee revision, members also approved the association’s updated office location.
The SME Association of Malaysia has officially relocated its office to Quill City Mall in Kuala Lumpur. The new location is expected to improve accessibility for members, stakeholders and industry partners.
According to the association, the move will also enhance service efficiency while supporting policy coordination, industry engagement and event organisation activities.
Focus on Digitalisation and Cross-Industry Collaboration
The association reaffirmed its role as a bridge between businesses, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
As Malaysia’s SME landscape continues evolving, the organisation said it remains committed to helping businesses strengthen competitiveness, improve sustainability and adapt to changing economic demands.
Furthermore, the association plans to improve its service framework through stronger digital administration systems, increased member engagement and wider cross-industry collaboration networks.
SME Leaders Attend Annual General Meeting
The AGM was attended by several key leaders from the SME Association of Malaysia, including National President Dr. Chin Chee Seong and National Secretary General Dennix Yeow Wah Fuong.
Also present were National Vice Presidents Datuk Ada Poon Yin Hoong, Datuk Miccele Siow Lee Ching, Anpananthan.K, Datuk Wira Naina Mohamed and Sam Tsen Mun Ket, alongside multiple National Council Members and representatives from across the country.
The association said it will continue prioritising initiatives that support SME transformation, business resilience and long-term economic growth in Malaysia.
