KUALA LUMPUR, 18 AUGUST 2026 – New subscription-based Managed Detection and Response service aims to give SMEs and high-growth startups access to enterprise-grade cybersecurity protection.
Malaysian cybersecurity company DeltaSpike has launched SME Essentials, a subscription-based Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service aimed at making enterprise-grade cybersecurity more accessible to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and high-growth startups across Malaysia.
The initiative comes as Malaysian businesses accelerate digital adoption through cloud computing, e-commerce, artificial intelligence (AI) and hybrid working arrangements. While these technologies are helping businesses improve productivity and competitiveness, they are also expanding the cyber attack surface for SMEs, many of which lack dedicated cybersecurity teams despite handling sensitive customer, financial and operational data.
With SMEs accounting for more than 97% of business establishments in Malaysia and contributing significantly to national employment and economic output, DeltaSpike said cybersecurity is increasingly becoming a business continuity issue rather than simply an IT concern.
“Cybersecurity should not be a privilege available only to large corporations,” said Shihan Annon, CVO of DeltaSpike.
He added that companies with 50 or more employees can have similar cloud infrastructure, customer data and cyber exposure to multinational organisations, but often lack the resources to establish a 24-hour Security Operations Centre (SOC) or hire specialised cybersecurity professionals.
“We believe every growing business deserves access to enterprise-grade protection,” he said.
Managed cybersecurity protection for SMEs
DeltaSpike’s SME Essentials combines a globally recognised Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platform with continuous monitoring by DeltaSpike’s Security Operations Centre.
The service provides threat detection, incident investigation, response support and quarterly cybersecurity reporting through a predictable monthly subscription.
Rather than offering another standalone cybersecurity software product, DeltaSpike said SME Essentials is designed to give businesses continuous access to experienced cybersecurity analysts who can identify, validate and respond to security incidents before they develop into operational disruptions.
The service is particularly suited to organisations with approximately 50 endpoints and above, covering sectors including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, professional services, retail, education, technology and financial services.
Supporting Malaysia’s SME digital economy
Beyond the commercial launch of SME Essentials, DeltaSpike has announced plans to establish a broader SME Cyber Resilience Initiative.
The initiative will involve working alongside organisations supporting Malaysia’s entrepreneurial and SME ecosystem to improve cybersecurity awareness and strengthen cyber resilience among growing businesses.
DeltaSpike intends for the initiative to complement Malaysia’s national digital economy agenda by helping SMEs strengthen their cybersecurity capabilities while pursuing digital transformation, AI adoption and international market expansion.
As part of the initiative, the company intends to introduce:

- Practical cyber risk assessments for growing businesses.
- Executive briefings covering ransomware, phishing and business email compromise.
- Best-practice guidance for companies preparing to work with multinational corporations, government agencies and regulated industries.
Cybersecurity becomes a boardroom priority
As businesses become increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure, cybersecurity is also emerging as an important consideration for investors, financial institutions and enterprise customers when evaluating potential suppliers.
Growing numbers of organisations now require vendors to demonstrate appropriate cybersecurity controls before awarding contracts, particularly in sectors such as financial services, healthcare, energy, telecommunications and critical infrastructure.
DeltaSpike believes this trend will continue as supply-chain security, regulatory expectations and digital trust become increasingly important factors in business competitiveness.
