The exclusive five-car collection combines bespoke craftsmanship, hand-painted interiors, and contemporary street art in one of Rolls-Royce’s most ambitious collaborations to date.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has revealed the Black Badge Cullinan by Cyril Kongo, an extraordinary new Bespoke collection that merges contemporary art with ultra-luxury automotive craftsmanship. Created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed artist Cyril Kongo, the project features five individually commissioned motor cars, each transformed into a rolling work of art through hand-painted interior surfaces and deeply personalised design elements.
Curated through Rolls-Royce Private Offices in New York, Seoul, and Goodwood, the collection reflects growing demand among luxury collectors for bold artistic expression and one-of-one commissions.
A Creative Collaboration Unlike Any Before
The project marks one of the most immersive artistic collaborations in Rolls-Royce history. Rather than contributing standalone artwork, Kongo worked directly alongside the marque’s designers, engineers, and artisans at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood throughout the creative process.
The collaboration centred around what Kongo calls the “Kongoverse” – a vivid artistic universe filled with imagined planets, symbols, mathematical formulas, and abstract interpretations of destiny and individuality.
“When I first saw Black Badge Cullinan, I felt compelled to create my own interpretation of the universe it belonged to,” said Cyril Kongo. “It became a conversation between my visual language and Rolls-Royce craftsmanship, with the motor car itself as the canvas.”
According to Rolls-Royce, the partnership represents an unprecedented level of co-creation, with Kongo receiving dedicated studio space inside the Bespoke facilities to hand-paint each component himself.
Hand-Painted Luxury Meets Contemporary Art
At the heart of each Black Badge Cullinan is a fully hand-painted Starlight Headliner, which serves as the artistic centrepiece of the vehicle. Inspired by astronomy and quantum physics, the ceiling artworks feature imagined constellations, planets, equations, and symbols that reflect Kongo’s fascination with infinite creativity.
To realise the vision, Rolls-Royce craftspeople prepared more than 70 paint colours, allowing Kongo complete freedom during the painting process. The artist then worked with Bespoke engineers to position all 1,344 illuminated stars individually by hand.
Each motor car also features:
- Hand-painted fascia panels and woodsets
- Bespoke centre consoles and rear waterfall sections
- Embroidered Kongo “tag” motifs hidden throughout the cabin
- Four distinct interior colour zones in Phoenix Red, Turchese, Forge Yellow, and Mandarin
Together, these elements create a continuous visual composition that transforms the cabin into an immersive artistic environment.
Rolls-Royce Introduces First-Ever Gradient Coachline
The exterior design remains intentionally restrained while hinting at the vibrant artistry within. Finished in Blue Crystal Over Black, each Cullinan debuts Rolls-Royce’s first-ever Gradient Coachline, where colours subtly transition along the bodywork.
Phoenix Red fades into Forge Yellow on one side, while Mandarin transitions into Turchese on the other. Kongo’s signature “tag” motif also appears within the Coachline, Illuminated Treadplates, umbrellas, and other Bespoke details.
In another Rolls-Royce first, each 23-inch Black Badge wheel features a different coloured brake caliper that mirrors the interior palette.
Luxury Personalisation Continues to Evolve
The Black Badge Cullinan by Cyril Kongo reflects the growing appetite among ultra-high-net-worth collectors for deeply personalised luxury experiences. Through its invitation-only Private Offices, Rolls-Royce continues to expand the boundaries of Bespoke commissioning by blending craftsmanship with culture, art, and individual identity.
Domagoj Dukec, Director of Design at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, described the collection as a “complete fusion of two unmistakable creative worlds.”
All five motor cars have already been allocated to collectors worldwide.
