KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is well positioned to become a regional hub for enterprise artificial intelligence (AI), supported by expanding data centre investments, a multilingual workforce, favourable government policies and strategic advantages that continue to attract AI companies, according to A3SEO CEO Isaac Liu.

Speaking at the AI Vision Forum 2026 today, Liu said Malaysia’s growing digital infrastructure has laid the foundation for wider enterprise AI adoption.

“Malaysia occupies an indispensable position in AI development. Its growing network of data centres and digital infrastructure has become a key enabler of enterprise AI adoption.”

He said government incentives have enhanced Malaysia’s appeal by giving technology companies greater confidence to establish operations and invest in the country.

Liu highlighted Malaysia’s multicultural and multilingual society as a competitive advantage in the age of large language models.

“Today, the most widely used AI tool is ChatGPT, which is based on a large language model. AI has made language much less of a barrier,” he said, adding that businesses can now communicate with customers across multiple languages using AI-powered translation, allowing them to expand into new markets more efficiently.

“When businesses can communicate seamlessly across languages using AI, they no longer have to worry about language barriers. That creates more opportunities to grow and reach different communities,” said Liu.

He added that Malaysia’s multilingual environment also makes it an attractive regional base for international companies. “Any business coming to Malaysia can use this multilingual environment to expand more easily into global markets.”

While optimistic about Malaysia’s prospects, Liu said he was cautious about commenting on the country’s overall level of AI adoption.

“I’m from Taiwan, so I cannot say I fully understand the overall level of AI adoption in Malaysia today. But what I do see is tremendous business opportunity and significant potential for digital transformation,” he remarked.

Liu said Malaysia’s ambition to become Asean’s enterprise AI hub is strengthened by its strategic location, continued investment in digital infrastructure and relatively low exposure to major natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons, making it an attractive destination for long-term technology investments.

These advantages were among the reasons organisers selected Kuala Lumpur as the inaugural host of AI Vision Forum.

“We discussed this with Dimennet and decided that the first edition of the AI Vision Forum should be held in Malaysia. We hope to expand the event to other countries in the future, but Malaysia is our first destination,”said Liu.

Despite the favourable outlook, he acknowledged that many businesses, particularly SMEs, continue to face challenges in adopting AI and one of the biggest obstacles is the disconnect between AI developers and potential users.

“Many companies have built excellent AI platforms and products, but they find it difficult to reach potential customers. Most AI startups come from technical backgrounds, but they may not have a strong understanding of the market,” he said.

At the same time, Liu said, many businesses want to embrace AI but are overwhelmed by the growing number of available solutions. “Our objective is to create a large matching platform where businesses can meet different AI providers, understand what each platform does and identify solutions that fit their needs within just a few hours.”

Rather than expecting companies to evaluate hundreds of AI products independently, Liu said, forums such as AI Vision Forum allow enterprises to see practical demonstrations, understand how AI addresses specific operational challenges and make more informed adoption decisions.

AI Vision Forum 2026 brought together six enterprise AI platform providers alongside global cloud technology companies to showcase agentic AI and enterprise automation solutions aimed at accelerating digital transformation among Malaysian businesses.
