KUALA LUMPUR: Advancecon Holdings Bhd, the master developer of Silver Valley Technology Park (SVTP) in Perak, is strategically positioning the industrial park to attract more investors via a collaboration with ACEN C&I MY Holdings Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of ACEN C&I HK Ltd (ACEN C&I).
Through the collaboration, commercial and industrial (C&I) clients who are setting up bases in SVTP will be able to access tailored renewable energy solutions that meet their unique needs.
Companies establishing operations within SVTP are expected to lower energy costs through impactful renewable energy supply solutions, including on-site (rooftop) installations and utility-scale solar projects via ACEN C&I’s Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme.
Further, the collaboration between Advancecon and ACEN C&I also aims to develop cost-effective clean energy solutions that support businesses’ energy needs while enabling them to achieve investors’ environmental, social and governance (ESG) goals.
Advancecon managing director Phum Boon Eng said that as the group takes on a broader role as a developer through SVTP, the responsibility is also evolving from delivering infrastructure to shaping the ecosystem around it.
“We are looking beyond what investors need to establish their operations, to what will help them operate efficiently, expand confidently and remain competitive over the long term.
“Today, manufacturers look beyond land and basic infrastructure. They consider energy security, operating costs, sustainability, resilience and their ability to grow,” she said at the signing ceremony today.
Rather than requiring every operator to develop its own energy strategy, SVTP aims to simplify the transition to cleaner energy by offering access to reliable and scalable renewable energy solutions.
“As you know, we have publicly announced the Next Quantum AI data centre that is coming on board. The project is currently going through the necessary regulatory applications.
“Once it comes on board, we expect the energy requirement to be quite significant. We hope that our collaboration with ACEN C&I will help support the renewable energy requirements of one of our major tenants.
“Next Quantum AI is looking at a total investment of RM8 billion in the park. At the moment, they are starting with the first phase and are currently proceeding with the necessary applications,” Advancecon general manager, property development Chew Kim Sun said.
Elaborating further, Phum said SVTP is being developed in Ipoh as a large-scale, future-ready industrial platform, with up to 2,700 acres planned and an initial 816-acre phase.
Its scale provides room for both anchor investors and businesses that require space to expand over time, while its strategic location between Penang and the Klang Valley offers direct connectivity to the North–South Expressway and Malaysia’s wider road, rail and port network.
“Beyond these advantages, we are taking a holistic approach to the park’s development, incorporating provisions for digital connectivity, energy-efficient features and landscaped green spaces to create a more conducive environment for businesses.
“Supporting this vision is the partnership between Advancecon and Perak Corporation Bhd, bringing together private-sector execution capabilities with state-level development support and investor facilitation,“ she said, adding that they believe Perak is well positioned for Malaysia’s next phase of industrial growth.
“It already has many of the fundamentals investors look for — an established manufacturing base, competitive costs, access to talent, and a strong network of educational institutions, healthcare and lifestyle amenities.
“Our vision is for SVTP to build on these strengths and help attract the next generation of industrial investment to Perak,” Phum said.
ACEN C&I CEO Kelvin Yuen said industrial parks are critical drivers of energy transition.
“Integrating renewable energy solutions into the original design of industrial parks is most practical for driving down costs and achieving ESG goals in the long run.”
Yuen said ACEN C&I currently operates 7.5 gigawatts of renewable energy.
“Part of our competitive advantage is our track record and our ability to develop and build reliable projects for the long term.
“We are a renewable energy company, not simply a developer that builds a project and sells it once it reaches commercial operation.
“We intend to own and operate our projects over the long term. Therefore, reliability is an important consideration when selecting us as a partner,” he said.
