IPOH, PERAK, 15 OKTOBER 2026 – Perak Export Day 2026 brought together businesses, government agencies and industry players to strengthen export readiness, provide market guidance and connect local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) with international business opportunities.
The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), in collaboration with the Perak state government through the Perak Entrepreneur Secretariat (STeP), organised Perak Export Day 2026 on 14 October at Kinta Riverfront Hotel in Ipoh to help local businesses strengthen their export readiness and explore international markets.
Held under the theme “Moh Kite Eksport, Moh Kite Mendunia” (Let’s Export, Let’s Go Global), the programme brought together Perak’s business community, government agencies and industry players to provide access to knowledge-sharing sessions, advisory services and strategic networking opportunities within Malaysia’s export ecosystem.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Kumaresan A/L Lingam, Deputy Director of Sectoral Division I at the Perak State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN). Also present were MATRADE Senior Director of Strategic Planning Raja Badrulnizam Raja Kamalzaman; MATRADE Senior Director of Digital Trade and Transformation Yusram Yusup; STeP Director Syed Omar Huzaimi Syed Ghaibi; and MATRADE Northern Region Director Har Man Ahmad.
Collaboration Key to Export Success
Raja Badrulnizam said successful exporting required close cooperation among manufacturers, government agencies, financial institutions, logistics providers and experienced exporters to help local businesses meet international market requirements.
He expressed hope that the programme’s discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions would encourage participants to identify gaps in their export readiness, explore promising markets and strengthen their business networks.
MATRADE also highlighted the potential of Perak-based companies to expand internationally, pointing to their participation in the agency’s export promotion programmes.
A total of 28 companies from Perak participated in the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2026 trade exhibition, while another 29 joined the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) business-matching initiative held alongside MIHAS from 23 to 26 September 2026.
MATRADE Offers Export Training and Advisory Support
MATRADE provides a range of exporter development initiatives to help local businesses prepare for international markets. These include training programmes, market information and advisory services through the MATRADE Academy.
Companies can also seek guidance to assess their export readiness and identify support programmes suited to their business needs.
Meanwhile, the Perak state government, through STeP, continues to strengthen local entrepreneurship through strategic partnerships with MATRADE and relevant agencies.
The collaboration aims to ensure that entrepreneurs receive not only information about export opportunities, but also the guidance and support needed to improve their competitiveness and pursue overseas markets.
Perak Export Day 2026 serves as a platform to help local businesses progress from an interest in exporting to being prepared to enter international markets.
Six Panel Sessions Cover Export Readiness and Market Access
The one-day programme featured six panel sessions covering export readiness, international market opportunities, business digitalisation, financing, logistics and exporter development support.
A session on integrating into multinational corporations’ (MNCs) supply chains focused on opportunities for MSMEs to become preferred vendors, meet procurement requirements and participate in vendor development programmes.
Industry perspectives were shared by Carsem Malaysia and Coherent Malaysia, highlighting potential pathways for local businesses to engage with multinational companies and become part of their supply chains.
21 Organisations Provide Business Advisory Services
In addition to the panel sessions, 21 organisations representing federal and state ministries, government agencies and Malaysia’s export ecosystem set up advisory counters to assist participants.
The counters enabled businesses to obtain further information, understand available support and identify initiatives relevant to their operational needs and export ambitions.
Through Perak Export Day 2026, MATRADE and STeP aim to strengthen their engagement with the state’s business community, increase local companies’ participation in export development and promotion programmes, and nurture more competitive exporters from Perak.
