The expanded TUBE-S entrepreneurship programme aims to strengthen youth-led businesses, create jobs, and boost Malaysia’s SME ecosystem through training, funding, and mentorship.
Driving the Next Generation of Bumiputera Entrepreneurs
SME Corp. Malaysia has allocated RM12 million to strengthen the development of local entrepreneurs through the newly introduced Program Tunas Usahawan Belia Bumiputera Skala (TUBE-S).
The initiative, organised under the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP), is expected to benefit 500 Bumiputera youth entrepreneurs nationwide.
Importantly, the programme runs simultaneously across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak from 4 to 10 May 2026, reflecting the government’s broader commitment to strengthening Malaysia’s SME ecosystem and youth entrepreneurship pipeline.
Building Businesses Beyond Financial Support
The closing ceremony for the TUBE-S programme and the Program Tunas Usahawan (PROTAS) MAIWP 2026 was officiated by Mr. Rizal bin Dato’ Nainy, Chief Executive Officer of SME Corp. Malaysia, at Lembah Azwen Resort in Hulu Langat.
TUBE-S serves as the continuation of the earlier TUBE entrepreneurship initiative, which has supported Bumiputera youth aged between 18 and 30 since 2014. However, the programme goes beyond financial assistance. It also focuses on developing resilience, discipline, and entrepreneurial confidence among participants.
“SME Corp Malaysia’s philosophy is to support MSMEs from the very beginning until they become strong industry players,” Rizal said during his speech. “We are not only providing grants. We are also building confidence, discipline, and long-term resilience.”
A Proven Track Record in Youth Entrepreneurship
Since its launch in 2014, the TUBE programme has delivered significant economic impact. By 2025, it had benefited more than 9,000 youth participants, created 8,805 new businesses, and generated over 20,000 job opportunities nationwide.
Collectively, entrepreneurs under the programme have recorded cumulative sales exceeding RM252 million, highlighting the growing contribution of youth-led SMEs to Malaysia’s economy.
As a result, TUBE has become one of the government’s flagship entrepreneurship development programmes for Bumiputera youth.
Nationwide Participation Across Malaysia
This year’s TUBE-S programme attracted 342 Bumiputera youths in Peninsular Malaysia alongside 50 asnaf entrepreneurs under the PROTAS initiative organised by the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP).
Meanwhile, the Sabah and Sarawak editions successfully trained 102 and 43 youth entrepreneurs respectively.
Consequently, the programme continues to expand its reach while creating more opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.
