HAVING declared navigation app TuJu as a national embarrassment, DAP adviser Lim Guan Eng today zoomed in on the fact that the app developer company Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd has nothing to show that it was qualified to co-develop the app with the Malaysian Highway Board (LLM).
An examination of the Prosignal board reveals a line-up comprising some directors who are linked to opposition parties and close links with the government in the past.
“While there is nothing wrong with opposition politicians getting government contracts, these directors have no track record or any expertise in technology, software engineering or road navigation applications,” asserted the Bagan MP in a media statement. “They have no proven engineering background.”

The company’s executive director is Datuk Abdul Rashari – the Selat Kelang assemblyman from Bersatu who has declared support for Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shari.
Deputy chair and managing director Mohd Edzreen Mohd Din began his career in the government sector. He had served in the Prime Minister’s Department.
Non-executive director Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani was inspector general of police from 2021 to 2023.
Spotlight is on TuJu after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim issued a directive that all civil servants were banned from using Waze. He called for the use of TuJu due to information security concerns.
The directive was made as there were concerns that navigation data would be obtained by Israel.
The chief secretary to the government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar has also issued a circular that echoed Anwar’s call. Heads of departments would be required to ensure that government staff comply with the directive.
Guan Eng who is also the Air Putih state assemblyman also questioned whether due diligence and open tender was practiced in developing TuJu.
He also reiterated the call for the government to come clean regarding the public funds that was used to develop the app.
“Was there a proper open tender exercise and due diligence carried out as well as who approved a failed TuJu road navigation application?
“So far the public is still asking the price of TuJu and how much was paid to develop TuJu.
“In the public interest and to uphold the principle of accountability and transparency, the government must come clean to keep the reformist spirit alive.”
Meanwhile on various social media platforms, Malaysian netizens have been highlighting the weaknesses of TuJu compared to Waze.
TuJu was offline yesterday following which LLM has apologised for the shortcomings that had to be endured by the users. – Oct 23, 2026.
