PETALING JAYA: Gamuda Bhd’s Australian subsidiary, DT Infrastructure Pty Ltd (DTI), has secured engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts worth a combined AUD569 million (RM1.64 billion) for two adjacent solar and battery hybrid projects in Queensland, Australia.
The contracts cover the Ganymirra and Majors Creek projects, with each contract valued at AUD284.53 million, or approximately RM822.3 million, Gamuda said in a Bursa Malaysia filing.
The two-year contracts are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2026 and run until January 2029.
Under the contracts, DTI will undertake the design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the solar farms, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and associated balance-of-plant infrastructure.
The two adjacent solar farms will be delivered as a single project, with DTI also set to provide operations and maintenance services after completion to support the long-term performance, reliability and optimisation of the assets.
Gamuda said notice to proceed for the projects was received on Aug 12. The contracts were entered into with Ganymirra Solar Power Station Pty Ltd and Majors Creek Solar Power Station Pty Ltd, respectively.
Once operational, the projects are expected to support Queensland’s renewable energy transition by adding renewable generation backed by large-scale battery storage, while strengthening the state’s electricity network and helping to reduce carbon emissions.
The developments are also expected to create employment opportunities, support local businesses and suppliers, and generate economic benefits for the Townsville region, Gamuda said.
Gamuda expects the projects to contribute positively to the group’s revenue and earnings for the financial year ending July 31, 2027, through to their completion.
