KUALA LUMPUR, 27 AUGUST 2026 – MATRADE and BPEN Pahang to equip 200 local entrepreneurs with export knowledge, market insights and access to support as the state looks to strengthen its international trade presence.
Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Pahang are being encouraged to explore international markets and expand their businesses globally through the Pahang Export Day Programme 2026.
The programme will take place on 7 September 2026 at Hotel Grand Darul Makmur in Kuantan, bringing together local entrepreneurs seeking practical insights into exporting, basic export guidance and information on support available within Malaysia’s national export ecosystem.
Organised by the Pahang State Government through the Pahang State Economic Planning Division (BPEN), in collaboration with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the programme is targeting 200 local entrepreneurs, particularly MSMEs looking to take their products and services into international markets.
Supporting Pahang’s export growth
The initiative comes as Malaysia continues to record strong trade performance, with the country’s total trade exceeding RM3.06 trillion.
MATRADE is seeking to build on Pahang’s own export performance, which reached RM38.46 billion in 2025, by encouraging more companies from the state to explore and participate in international markets.
The programme is intended to provide an avenue for Pahang companies to expand their global presence while strengthening the state’s profile on the international trade stage.
More Pahang businesses can tap export opportunities
Pahang already has a foundation of businesses participating in Malaysia’s export ecosystem. As of July 2026, 146 companies in the state were registered under MATRADE’s Malaysian Exporters Registry (MER).
The figure also points to further opportunities for local entrepreneurs to enter international markets. More businesses are encouraged to register with MATRADE and make use of its export advisory services as they work towards expanding their operations beyond Malaysia.
Greater participation by Pahang companies in international trade could help strengthen the state’s contribution to Malaysia’s overall export performance while creating new opportunities for local businesses.
Building more export-ready MSMEs
Pahang Export Day 2026 aims to support the State Government’s efforts to develop a larger pool of competitive, export-oriented entrepreneurs in line with the state’s economic and entrepreneurial aspirations.
Through the programme, local MSMEs will gain knowledge and awareness of international market opportunities, alongside greater insight into the requirements involved in expanding overseas.
The programme will also provide exposure to support services offered by government and private institutions, giving Pahang companies greater access to resources that can help them scale their products and services internationally.
MATRADE remains confident that Pahang is home to numerous high-potential companies capable of competing in global markets with sustained support from Malaysia’s wider trade ecosystem.
Strengthening Malaysia’s global trade presence
By connecting local entrepreneurs with export knowledge, advisory services and available support facilities, the Pahang Export Day Programme is intended to help more businesses move towards international expansion.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s export ecosystem by enabling MSMEs across the country to identify new markets, build export capabilities and compete more effectively on the global stage.
Export Day 2026 is also planned to be held in Perak, with the programme scheduled for 14 October 2026.
