WHOEVER says “it’s scripted”, “I’m a PH goon”, whatever … I read the question I wrote myself, and for me, that has been the talk of town within my circle.

Such is the confession of Universiti Malaya economics undergraduate Ummi Umairah Bakhit after UMNO loyalists lambasted her for being uncivilised/rude and ungrateful for remarking that “the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen was people donating to Najib”.

“The word ‘stupid’ is used to emphasise how ignorant the donor is,” the 23-year-old Cabinet member of the UM Students’ Union penned in a recent rant on Threads to counter her detractors.

That’s just a normal question … just that Malaysian students are not used to criticising the government and ministers … + criticism doesn’t necessarily mean I ‘ve to be a politician or someone’s agent.”

Incredibly enough, corruption haters are rallying behind Ummi Umairah’s courage for daringly shaming incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak and UMNO backers who chipped in to poll RM9.25 mil as of Sept 27 for the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund to pay for his SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction fine.

The aim was to enable the former 11-term Pekan MP to serve the remainder of his SRC International Sdn Bhd conviction sentence at home until Aug 23, 2028.

To recap, Ummi Umairah displayed her rare courage at the Higher Education Ministry-backed dialogue at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) with her line of questioning on graft and integrity having startled high-profile political figures which included former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ), Johor Menteri Besar (MB) Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and Selangor MB Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

National PKR Youth communications director and EXCO member Hanani Dhamirah who stood in solidarity with Ummi Umairah regretted that political fanaticism has led to uncivilised cyber bullying and privacy invasion inflicted on the latter by the so-called UMNO sycophants.

“Keep going, dik (younger sister). Many are behind you and agree with your statement. We stand with Ummi Umaira,” applauded Hanani who was herself the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) Student Executive Council chief executive during the 2019/2020 academic session.

“Before everyone calls her a ceplos (slang for PKR cybertrooper) just because she took a picture with YB Fadhlina (Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek), here’s another receipt for you to digest,” added Hanani while attaching photos of Ummi Umairah posing with various political personalities, including UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Elsewhere, Kedah Amanah chairman and national committee member Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh declared “solidarity for little sister Umairah” with content creator @tintagadis denying that Ummi Umairah has insulted anyone.

“She talks about the donation to Najib which actually happened. Why be ashamed of the truth?” hailed the health and beauty influencer. “Keep going, little sister!!! 🙌🏻 “

Also echoing solidarity with Umairah, fellow Threader Siza Shariff (@sitizabedahsiza) insisted that what the student leader contended “is absolutely necessary and correct 💯”.

“Yes, we shouldn’t donate any money, not even one sen to this traitor. He stole our money because of greed … He even plundered pension trust fund belonging to the Retirement Fund (Inc),” claimed the commenter.

“He did blunders. More cases to come. 1MDB next. You shall languish in prison.”
