KUALA LUMPUR, 22 OCTOBER 2026 – Malaysia’s participation in the SEMICON West 2026 trade exhibition has resulted with RM453 million (USD 110 million) worth of export deals, marking a new record under MATRADE’s coordinated participation at the premier semiconductor industry event since its debut in 2007. SEMICON West 2026 trade exhibition took place in San Francisco, United States. A total of 10 Malaysian companies including small to medium enterprises (SME) participated in the trade event.
This achievement reflects strong international demand for Malaysia’s electronics and semiconductor solutions, including precision components and metal fabrication, semiconductor test interface solutions, semiconductor equipment, industrial tooling, wire harnesses, electrical components and dispensing machines.
These capabilities push Malaysian companies to capitalise on emerging opportunities driven by artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), advanced technologies and industrial automation, strengthening Malaysia’s role as reliable and competitive partners in the global electronics and semiconductor supply chain.
Exploring Opportunities in Global Microelectronics and Semiconductor Ecosystem
MATRADE strengthened strategic industry linkages through meetings with SEMI, a prominent semiconductor organisation with 4,000 member companies and the Office of the Mayor of Phoenix to explore opportunities for deeper industry collaboration and greater participation by Malaysian companies in the global microelectronics and semiconductor ecosystem.
MATRADE has opened gateways to potential avenues for Malaysian companies to partner with international technology companies, as well as integrate their presence into the global microelectronics and semiconductor supply chain.
Accelerating Malaysia’s Semiconductor Exports
Dato’ Indera Abu Bakar Yusof, Chief Executive Officer of MATRADE said, “MATRADE’s participation at SEMICON West forms part of its broader efforts to accelerate Malaysia’s semiconductor exports, especially by local homegrown SMEs, deepen trade and industry linkages with North America, and expand export markets, including opportunities in Latin America, Central Asia, and Africa.”

“These efforts support the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), particularly in advancing Malaysian companies towards higher value-added activities, strengthening domestic supply-chain capabilities and capturing opportunities in the evolving global electronics and semiconductor industry,” he added.
Strengthening Malaysian Exporter and SMEs
Through geopolitical uncertainties, intensifying global competition and growing environmental and sustainability requirements, MATRADE remains committed to helping Malaysian exporters and SMEs strengthen their international readiness and competitiveness, build strategic partnerships and transition into higher-margin services.
Through targeted trade promotion and industry engagements, MATRADE continues to position Malaysian companies to seize emerging opportunities and contribute to the sustainable growth of the nation’s electronics and semiconductor industry.
