KUALA LUMPUR: India-based artificial intelligence-powered hyperlocal marketing platform SingleInterface plans to establish an office in Malaysia and expand its workforce after officially launching operations in the country, betting on Malaysia’s digitally mature market as a springboard for its Southeast Asian growth.

Having operated in Malaysia since 2024, SingleInterface currently employs two people locally and plans to increase its headcount to five or six employees within the next six to seven months as it expands operations.

Southeast Asia director Punit Sharma said the company has adopted an asset-light market entry strategy by working with reseller partners to serve customers while gradually building its own presence on the ground.

“It can be serviced, it can be managed. We don’t need onshore resources. But in the next six or seven months, we will have at least three to four more people here on SingleInterface’s payroll because, when it comes to customer service, there’s nothing like being in front of the customers,” he told reporters in an interview on Friday.

Punit confirmed the company intends to establish a Malaysian office. The company has secured three major enterprise customers in Malaysia since early 2025.

Punit said Malaysia was selected because of its high level of digital adoption, strong technology penetration and mature SME ecosystem, making it an ideal market to demonstrate the value of the company’s AI-powered hyperlocal marketing platform.

“It is the right market. This will be a very good launchpad for us, with the right kind of global brands and amazing people,” he added.

The company helps businesses with multiple physical locations manage their digital presence across platforms such as Google Search, Google Maps, online directories and AI-powered search tools, allowing each outlet to maintain accurate business information, respond to customer reviews and improve its visibility in location-based searches.

The expansion comes as businesses increasingly adapt their marketing strategies to changing consumer behaviour, with shoppers relying on search engines, maps and AI-powered platforms before visiting physical stores.

At the launch, Punit said consumer journeys are becoming increasingly digital-first, with customers moving between online and offline channels before making purchasing decisions.

Malaysia’s high digital adoption, he added, makes it well suited for businesses looking to improve customer acquisition through local search.

Country director for Indonesia and Malaysia Yenny Stutts revealed that SingleInterface has already secured HP Regional and Shell as major enterprise customers in Malaysia, while Sunway Medical Centre is expected to become a customer soon.

She declined to disclose the company’s Malaysian revenue or growth targets but said demand has been encouraging since it began operating in the country.

“So far, the market in Malaysia has been great. We have potential. What we’ve done here over the last two years has been very well received because no one is actually giving very clear analysis and details, such as click-to-direction, click-to-call and click-to-microsite or website. Besides that, our AI responder, which is powered by AI, creates efficiency and helps build the brand’s reputation by engaging directly with customers.”

SingleInterface has appointed Arbell Parc and BlackGrid Digital as its official reseller partners in Malaysia to provide consulting, implementation, onboarding, training and customer support, allowing the company to scale its business while gradually building its own local team.

SingleInterface, founded in India in 2014, said it serves more than 400 enterprise brands across Asia and the Middle East and manages over 450,000 business locations globally. Its customers span industries including retail, banking, automotive, healthcare, hospitality and consumer goods.

The company positions itself as a premium platform for enterprises and SMEs with multiple locations, arguing that its software replaces several standalone digital marketing tools.

Punit said the platform has delivered returns on investment ranging from 30 times to 500 times for customers, citing an Indian banking client where the platform enabled more than US$1.4 billion (RM5.9 billion) in sales over an 18-month period.

He added that customers stay with the company for an average of four years, although no Malaysia-specific performance metrics were disclosed. These figures were provided by the company and have not been independently verified.

Punit said the company expects to roll out its HyperX solution in Malaysia within about six months after completing local regulatory and compliance requirements, including registrations related to data protection and “Do Not Call” regulations.

Speaking at the launch earlier, Stutts said the company sees growing demand for tools that help businesses manage their digital presence across hundreds or thousands of locations as consumer discovery increasingly begins online.

“We believe digital visibility is no longer optional. It is a critical business strategy. SingleInterface aims to help brands strengthen their digital presence, improve local discoverability and create more consistent customer experiences across every business location.”
