Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford expands Ford Ranger line-up comprising the Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL, marking the next chapter in the evolution of Malaysia’s best-selling work and lifestyle pickup truck.

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion-Ford), the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, has expanded its Next-Generation Ford Ranger line-up with the launch of the Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL.

The launch coincides with another milestone for the brand. Since its Malaysian debut in 2022, more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers are now on the road, reinforcing the model’s position as one of Malaysia’s leading pick-up trucks.

The expanded range reflects changing consumer preferences as pick-up trucks continue evolving beyond commercial vehicles into versatile options for business, family use and outdoor lifestyles.

Ford Ranger Continues Global and Malaysian Success

Auto ConneXion-Ford said the latest additions build on the Ranger’s strong global reputation.

Over the past two decades, Ford has sold approximately 5.1 million Rangers across more than 180 markets, making it the world’s best-selling pick-up manufacturer over the past decade.

The Ranger has also received numerous international accolades. These include the 2025 North American Truck of the Year award, while remaining the best-selling vehicle in Australia and New Zealand and the best-selling pick-up for more than a decade in Vietnam and Europe.

In Malaysia, the Next-Generation Ford Ranger has also earned multiple industry awards. The Ford Ranger Platinum 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel won both the People’s Choice Award and Truck of the Year at the MARii Car of the Year (COTY) Awards 2024. Meanwhile, the Ford Ranger WildTrak 3.0 V6 secured the Pickup Truck of the Year title at the MARii Car of the Year (COTY) Awards 2025.

According to Turse Zuhair, Managing Director of Auto ConneXion, customer confidence has continued to drive the Ranger’s growth in Malaysia.

He said the milestone reflects the trust customers place in the Ranger’s quality and capability, adding that Ford recently ranked as the No. 1 mainstream automotive brand in the 2026 J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study.

“As customer expectations continue to evolve, we are expanding the Ranger family to offer vehicles that deliver the ideal balance of toughness, advanced technology and premium comfort,” he said.

Three New Variants Cater to Different Customer Needs

The latest Ranger line-up targets different customer segments, ranging from commercial users to lifestyle buyers.

The Ranger XL serves businesses, fleet operators and commercial customers seeking a dependable workhorse.

The Ranger Sport targets drivers looking for a balance between everyday practicality, off-road capability and sporty styling.

Meanwhile, the flagship Ranger Platinum focuses on customers seeking premium comfort without compromising the capability expected from a pick-up truck.

Across the range, the Ranger offers up to 1,000kg payload capacity, 3,500kg towing capacity and 800mm water-wading capability.

Its engineering package includes a Common Rail Direct Injection fuel system, 10 Speed Automatic Transmission with SelectShift, Electronic Shift-on-the-Fly (ESOF) and an Electromagnetic Transfer Case (EMTC) to improve performance across varying terrain.

Inside, the Ranger combines practicality with modern technology through a 12-inch Multi-Touchscreen Display Head Unit, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, Voice Recognition, Electronic Dual-Zone Climate Control Air Conditioning, multiple USB charging ports and Ford’s suite of intelligent driver-assistance technologies.

Ranger Platinum Brings Premium Comfort

Positioned as the flagship model, the Ranger Platinum combines luxury features with the performance expected from a full-sized pick-up.

It is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine producing 250PS at 3,250rpm and 600Nm of torque at 1,750rpm, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The model also features an exclusive Platinum grille, 20-inch alloy wheels, Flexible Rack System, Acacia Green exterior paint and a premium cabin fitted with quilted leather-accented seats featuring heating and ventilation for the front occupants.

Other premium features include Platinum-specific interior detailing and an eight-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Ranger Sport Targets Lifestyle Buyers

The Ranger Sport focuses on customers who want everyday usability alongside off-road capability.

Available with either a 3.0-litre V6 Turbo Diesel or 2.0-litre Turbo Diesel engine, it features a sporty black grille, 18-inch alloy wheels, two-tone interior seats and a digital instrument cluster.

The 3.0-litre variant comes with a full-time four-wheel-drive system, while the 2.0-litre model uses a part-time four-wheel-drive setup.

Ranger XL Focuses on Commercial Reliability

Designed primarily for businesses and fleet operators, the Ranger XL prioritises durability and practicality.

It features a functional cargo bed, robust exterior styling and safety technologies that include six airbags and intuitive driver-assistance features to support daily commercial operations.

Ford Expands After-Sales Support in East Malaysia

Alongside the new vehicle launches, Auto ConneXion-Ford announced a new Ford Parts Hub in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The facility complements the company’s existing Central Parts Hub in Shah Alam and strengthens after-sales support across East Malaysia.

Operations will begin in phases from 27 July 2026. Initially, the hub will stock around 1,000 fast-moving genuine Ford and Motorcraft parts, including maintenance, wear-and-tear and accident repair components.

The new facility aims to shorten parts lead times, improve workshop efficiency and provide same-day delivery for selected parts within the Kota Kinabalu area.

Auto ConneXion-Ford currently supports customers through 33 authorised Ford dealerships nationwide, including nine sales and service locations across East Malaysia.

Pricing and Launch Promotion

The new Ford Ranger range is now available for booking at authorised Ford dealerships nationwide.

Peninsular Malaysia pricing (on-the-road without insurance) starts from:

  • Ranger Platinum: RM205,888
  • Ranger Sport 3.0L: RM159,888
  • Ranger Sport 2.0L: RM145,888
  • Ranger XL: RM127,888

As part of a limited-time launch promotion running until 31 August 2026, customers purchasing the Ranger XL or Ranger Sport 2.0L will receive a complimentary Ford Front HD1080p Dashcam. Buyers of the Ranger Sport 3.0L and Ranger Platinum 3.0L will receive a complimentary two-year Basic Extended Service Plan (ESP).

Auto ConneXion-Ford will also host its inaugural Ford Nation community event on 1 August 2026 at Heritage Valley, Kuala Lumpur, bringing together Ford owners and enthusiasts through vehicle showcases and community activities.
