New collaboration aims to expand entrepreneurship, digital transformation, market access and Malaysia-China business cooperation, creating more opportunities for Malaysian SMEs to grow locally and internationally.

The Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) has strengthened its collaboration with SME Corp. Malaysia through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that aims to support the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) while deepening Malaysia-China economic and trade cooperation.
The MoU exchange took place during the 2025 MSME Performance Sharing Session and Press Conference on 31 July 2026 and was witnessed by Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development, YB Steven Sim Chee Keong.
The partnership marks a significant step towards strengthening Malaysia’s SME ecosystem by combining the resources and expertise of a government agency and one of the country’s leading business chambers.
Building Stronger Government-Industry Collaboration
The collaboration follows a courtesy visit by MCCC’s leadership to the Ministry of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (KUSKOP) on 12 May 2026.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the current business landscape, Malaysia’s SME development priorities and opportunities to strengthen cooperation with agencies under KUSKOP. They also explored the possibility of establishing a formal partnership through an MoU.
Following months of discussions and coordination, MCCC and SME Corp. Malaysia formalised the partnership, laying the foundation for long-term collaboration.
Supporting SME Development Across Key Growth Areas
Under the agreement, MCCC and SME Corp. Malaysia will work together across several strategic areas that support business growth and international competitiveness.
The partnership will focus on:
- Entrepreneurship development and business capability building
- Market expansion and business matching programmes
- Internationalisation of Malaysian enterprises
- Malaysia-China business ecosystem collaboration
- Digital transformation and innovation
- Market intelligence and knowledge sharing
- Strategic collaborative projects
By leveraging their combined networks and resources, both organisations aim to create more opportunities for Malaysian businesses to expand, innovate and compete in regional and global markets.
Creating More Opportunities for Malaysian SMEs
As a key bridge between the Malaysian and Chinese business communities, MCCC has long promoted cross-border trade, investment and business collaboration.
Through this partnership, MCCC members will gain greater access to government-supported initiatives, including business training, capability development programmes, market expansion opportunities and business matching activities.
More importantly, both organisations plan to extend these programmes beyond chamber members, ensuring that more MSMEs across Malaysia can benefit from government support, business development services and international networking opportunities.
Driving Malaysia-China Economic Cooperation
Looking ahead, MCCC and SME Corp. Malaysia will implement a series of initiatives under the MoU framework, including entrepreneurship training, market intelligence sharing, business matching events, internationalisation programmes and capacity-building activities.
The organisations believe these efforts will help Malaysian MSMEs seize new growth opportunities, strengthen their competitiveness and accelerate high-quality business development.
At the same time, the collaboration is expected to deepen Malaysia-China trade and investment relations while contributing to Malaysia’s broader economic growth agenda.
