PETALING JAYA, 12 AUGUST 2026 – Platform Selangor honours outstanding micro-entrepreneurs while strengthening digitalisation, financing and market access across the state.

Platform Selangor (PLATS) has surpassed 100,000 registered entrepreneurs, marking a significant milestone in the Selangor state government’s efforts to build an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The achievement was highlighted at the Platform Selangor Awards Night 2026 (MAPS 2026), held at Sunway Resort Hotel, which brought together around 1,000 government leaders, state agencies, local authorities, industry partners and members of the entrepreneurial community.

Organised by Yayasan MBI, the awards night recognised entrepreneurs who have demonstrated outstanding performance in developing and expanding their businesses, while highlighting the growing role of digitalisation and innovation in Selangor’s entrepreneurial landscape.

Strengthening Selangor’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem

MAPS 2026 was organised through a strategic collaboration between the Selangor State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN), Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) (MBI Selangor) and local authorities as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s entrepreneurial development agenda.

The ceremony was officiated by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, who also presented awards to recipients in recognition of their contributions to Selangor’s economy, employment creation and the wellbeing of local communities.

In his speech, Amirudin said empowering entrepreneurs would remain a priority for the state government as businesses adapt to the changing digital economy.

“Micro-entrepreneurs are among the key drivers of Selangor’s economic growth. The state government will continue to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem through a comprehensive approach encompassing digitalisation, access to financing, capacity building and strategic networks, so that more local entrepreneurs can grow sustainably and remain competitive at the national and international levels,” he said.

Digitalisation, Financing and Market Access

As of July 2026, PLATS has continued to support entrepreneurs through initiatives focused on digitalisation, financing, market access and capacity building.

A total of 571 entrepreneurs have participated in the U-PLATS Digital Programme 2026, while another 200 entrepreneurs took part in the U-PLATS Digital Bootcamp to strengthen their businesses’ digital capabilities.

Meanwhile, 34 entrepreneurs participated in the U-PLATS Halal Programme, receiving guidance towards halal certification, while 228 entrepreneurs benefited from PLATS Biaya.

To further expand market access, 2,852 entrepreneurs were provided with business opportunities through various programmes and events organised by the Selangor state government.

These initiatives form part of PLATS’ wider efforts to equip local entrepreneurs with the tools, financing and networks needed to grow their businesses in an increasingly competitive economy.

MAPS Recognises Entrepreneurial Resilience and Innovation

According to MBI Selangor Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Ts. Saipolyazan M Yusop, MAPS was not merely an awards ceremony, but also a recognition of entrepreneurs who have demonstrated perseverance, resilience and innovation in developing the people’s economy.

“As the strategic investment agency of the Selangor state government, MBI Selangor, through Yayasan MBI, is committed to further expanding the impact of socioeconomic development through various inclusive entrepreneurship programmes and initiatives. With the support of our strategic partners, we will continue to empower local entrepreneurs to become more resilient, innovative and capable of competing in an increasingly dynamic economic landscape,” he said.

Saipolyazan added that the recognition should encourage more entrepreneurs to expand their businesses, create employment opportunities and contribute to Selangor’s economic prosperity.

23 Awards Presented Across Nine Categories

A total of 23 awards across nine categories were presented at MAPS 2026, celebrating entrepreneurial excellence in areas including innovation, digitalisation, community development, women and youth leadership, and the adoption of technology in business.

The highlight of the evening was the Selangor State Micro-Entrepreneur Grand Award, which was presented to Puan Norminah Binti Syafrial, founder of Minah Satay.

Norminah received a trophy and prizes worth a total of RM20,000, comprising RM5,000 in cash and RM15,000 under the Selangor Madani Entrepreneur Fund.

She was recognised for her achievements in developing her business, leveraging digital technology and creating a positive impact within the local community.

Her success demonstrates how a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem can help micro-businesses grow into contributors to the local economy while encouraging other entrepreneurs to innovate and expand.

Other awards presented during MAPS 2026 included the:

  • Community Micro-Entrepreneur Award
  • Young Micro-Entrepreneur Award
  • Technology Revolution Micro-Entrepreneur Award
  • Women Micro-Entrepreneur Award
  • Innovation Micro-Entrepreneur Award
  • U-PLATS Digital Outstanding Entrepreneur Award
  • U-PLATS Halal Excellence Award
  • PLATS Biaya Outstanding Entrepreneur Award

Building a More Competitive Digital Economy

Beyond recognising individual achievements, MAPS 2026 showcased the success stories of local entrepreneurs as an inspiration to the wider business community.

The event also reinforced the importance of building an entrepreneurial culture centred on innovation, digitalisation and competitiveness, particularly as businesses navigate an increasingly dynamic economic environment.

PLATS continues to serve as a strategic platform connecting the government, industry and entrepreneurial community, supporting Selangor’s goal of developing a progressive, inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Through its various programmes and initiatives, PLATS aims to expand growth opportunities, increase entrepreneurs’ incomes and generate lasting socioeconomic impact for Selangor.
